මා අද දින මාගේ කුඩා දියණිය සමග මාලිගාවට ගියේ අප යහමග යැවීමට දම් දෙසූ බුදු පියාණන් හට ගෞරව දැක්වීමට පමණි. පන්සිල් සමාදම් වෙමින් සිටි අප දෙසට පැමිණි මාලිගාවේ සේවකයකු මාහට කතා කර මෙසේ ඇසීය.
"මහත්තය දරුව පූජා කරන්නද?"
මාගේ පිළිතුර වූයේ,
"අනේ මහත්තය, දරුවනං පූජා කරන්නෙ නෑ. මේ මල් පහන් ටිකනං පූජා කරල යන්නං, ඕනෙනං පඩුරකුත් දාන්නං.
එවිට ඔහු තරමක් තදින්.
"විහිළු නෙමෙයි මහත්තය, දරුව මාස තුනේදි දළදා හාමුදුරුවන්ට පූජා කරාම දරුවට හොඳයි".
එවිට මම මෙසේ පවසා මල් පහන් පමණක් පූජාකර නැවත නිවසට පැමිණියෙමි.
"ඒක විහිළුවක් නෙමෙයි මහත්තයෝ, බුදුබණ වල එහෙම දෙයක් නං මම කොහෙවත් අහල නෑ, ගුඩුබණ පිළිපදින්න මම කැමතිත් නෑ".

I think they mean "භාර කිරීම" (giving into the care of) not "පූජා කිරීම" (donating to)..
ReplyDeleteBut personally I think that භාර කිරීම is stupid too. Apparently when i was a child my parents (who used to live in kandy at the time) took me to be blessed at the kandy temple, i was taken all the way into the relic room and properly blessed.. you can see how well the blessing took..
anyway, the problem is that the priests in sri lanka have converted buddhism into a moneymaking venture. they have brought superstition and dogma into it.. and then they have the gall to state that "buddhism is a philosophy not a religion"
there are other arguments there.. but that is for a different time.
but remember this.. according to all the priests, before buddhism came to sri lanka we were worshiping rocks and trees, after it came to sri lanka, we're STILL worshiping rocks and trees..
